Summary:
It's been six weeks since angels of the apocalypse descended to demolish the modern world. Street gangs rule the day while fear and superstition rule the night. When warrior angels fly away with a helpless little girl, her seventeen-year-old sister Penryn will do anything to get her back.
Anything, including making a deal with an enemy angel.
Raffe is a warrior who lies broken and wingless on the street. After eons of fighting his own battles, he finds himself being rescued from a desperate situation by a half-starved teenage girl.
Traveling through a dark and twisted Northern California, they have only each other to rely on for survival. Together, they journey toward the angels' stronghold in San Francisco where she'll risk everything to rescue her sister and he'll put himself at the mercy of his greatest enemies for the chance to be made whole again.

Thoughts:
I must say this series is absolutely heartbreaking. It left me high and dry. Urgh my heart, please glue it back together! </3
It may not be an easy read, but once you pushed past the whole angels terminology part, you'll find yourself entwined with the insane angel-demon world, so compelled that time would fly by in a blink. Yes, then you'll bitch and whine about how short the two books are and how long more to wait for the last book. Kid you not, this is in fact the most torturous part, waiting.
Book 1 - Angel Fall; Book 2 - World After; Book 3 - To be released;
Before you read this series, you must cleanse away all your fairy tale thoughts. Angels are no kind creatures. They are violent, rude and painstakingly powerful. They are god's soldiers.
There wasn't much of a detailed explanation regarding to the 'apocalypse'. Other than the god's instructions. Which would only be revealed much later in the series and not in the beginning. So if you are hung up with the whole idea why, you'll be really frustrated, so don't.
Raffe's beautiful white wings were ripped from his back by the demon angel, Beliel. Her sister Paige was taken. And she needed Raffe's angel knowledge to find Paige. They fell in love, a forbidden love. If Raffe was found guilty, he'd become a fallen angel and executed.
They made it into the aerie, and Penryn found Paige, but she was different. Much stronger and more inhuman. Her teeth were razor sharp, and she fed on meat, human meat, to survive. Like a beast. Truth was, Paige hated Penryn for deserting her. She looked up to Beliel with love. Beliel, the one who took her away, turning her into a human pet, and dumping her to the experiment once his infatuation with human disappeared. Their loving sister relationship wasn't quite the same anymore.
Raffe was betrayed by the angel doctor, and he was given Beliel's black demon wings. On the other hand, Beliel got his beautiful white wings, the one which all other angels would look up to, archangel wings. Raffe was now being chastised as demon and despised by his own kind. He who thought Penryn died, left to hunt for Beliel, until he met her again.
The second book is insane! This whole series is definitely mind blowing fast paced and yes, your heart will wrench after so many drastic twists. Especially when Paige revealed her real thoughts. And when Raffe gave in to his real feelings, oh my god. I bet he'd throw away his angel duties to be with Penryn. Oh please be with Penryn.
This is a must read series!! Plenty of literal actions, but nothing gore. This isn't anything alike to Hunger Games since the whole plot is way different, but yes the excitement is there!
